SUHUM CELEBRATES 61st INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY – MCE GIVES HOPE FOR A BETTER SUHUM
Ghana’s first pension anniversary celebrated throughout the country has rather seen her youthful times with the theme GHANA BEYOND AID.
On behalf of the President His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, the Suhum Municipal Chief Executive Hon Margaret Darko Darkwah wished Suhuman and it’s surrounding towns and communities which form the municipality a happy 61st birthday celebration.
“It is worth noting that this year’s celebration is a special one since it marks our sixty-one (61) years of nationhood. There is no gainsaying that Ghana has blazed the path of political democracy over the years within the sub-region and indeed the African continent. Indeed, through hard work and the mercies of God we have come this far as a nation. This also calls for deep reflections retrospectively as we harness strength from our past to face the challenges ahead of us. It is against this backdrop that all of us will support the government to pursue GHANA BEYOND AID agenda”. The Hon MCE told the parade on behalf of the president.
Hon Margaret Darko Darkwah assured all present of a great future as a municipality and the nation as a whole. “But we cannot succeed when we are divided”. She cautioned. She admonished that, all must bear in mind that despite our diversity, we are one people, Ghanaians. “United we stand, divided we fall”. She added.
The Hon MCE took advantage of the occasion to advise all to be extra careful as Easter is fast approaching. She appealed to drivers, pedestrians and other road users to be extra careful to ensure that the life of the people is assured since a healthy and secured people are the critical factors in the government’s development agenda.
She also assured the people of Suhum that the Municipal Assembly will continue to review it’s development plan in order to build a better future for the people of Suhum. She encouraged all community members to actively participate in the plans and programs of the assembly.
According to Baah Samuel, the Hon MCE saluted the gallant men and women through whose various contributions Suhum Municipality has come this far.
She appreciated Nananom, the hard working teachers, security personnel, business men and women, media practitioners, health workers, but most especially the school pupils and students for their smart turn out and performance.
She prayed for God’s blessings to make our Municipality greater and stronger each passing day.
